India Post Office Recruitment 2012-13 For Postal/ Sorting Assistants

Indian postal department has issued a notification for the recruitment of postal and sorting assistants in the clerical cadre. Recruitment will be done for multiple locations across the country. Applicants can submit there application on or before October 1, 2012 (October 11, 2012 for applicants residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh division of J&K).

Pay Scale : 5200-20300 (Grade Pay 2400 + Admissible allowance)

Age Limit : 18 to 27 years (Age relaxation for SC/ ST 5years, Other backward classes 3 years).

Educational Qualification : 10+2 (12th Pass) with minimum 60% marks (45% for SC /ST and 55% for other backward classes).

Cost Of Application Form : Rs 50 (obtain application form from the head post office of your region from 11.08.2012 to 25.09.2012)

Examination Fee : Rs 200 (Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH categories are exempt from examination fees). Candidates have to deposit the prescribed examination fees at the head post office of the region for which you are applying and obtain the ACG-67/UCR receipt.

How To Apply For Postal/ Sorting Assistant?

  • Purchase the Application brochure from the head post office of your region by paying Rs 50 in cash.
  • Fill the application form with all the required details as per the instructions given.
  • Submit the examination fees at the head post office of the region for which you are applying for the job. Obtain the ACG-67/UCR receipt from the post office on submission of exam fees.
  • Dispatch the application form (duly filled) plus ACG-67/UCR receipt (original) to ā€œDirect Recruitment Cell, New Delhi HO, New Delhi ā€“ 110001ā€ through speed post/ Registered post of India post only.

Examination Pattern/ Syllabus For Post Office Postal/ Sorting Assistant Recruitment 2012

STAGE 1- Eligible candidates will have to appear for a written aptitude test of 2 hours which will consist questions from different streams like Mathematics, English, General Knowledge (GK), Reasoning and Analytical ability. Questions would be split into four parts and each part would consist of 25 questions of 1 mark each. There is no negative marking.

STAGE 2 - Candidates who will clear the level 1 i.e written test will be called for the CPT. This computer typing test would be 30 minutes long in which you will be evaluated for typing and data entry proficiency.

    Is a candidate from OBC who has got 51% in 12th standard but have got 60% in Gradutation and 75% in Msc (Computer Science) eligible for the post of sorting /postal assistance?
