Many people don’t know what the EPF is really about. To put it in simple words, EPF or rather Employees’ Provident Fund is a savings scheme that salaried people have. Its investment is automatic. The recently launched EPFO portal, the scheme’s variety of services have become less frustrating and cumbersome. Moreover, it suits the government’s paperless campaign.
For accessing different facilities of through the EPFO portal, people have to access the ‘Member UAN/Online services’. You have to log in to “www.epfindia.gov.in” also and select the option which says ‘Member Unified portal’.
To start utilizing the concerned services, a person needs:
- It should be activated.
To generate UAN, either the employer provides you with the UAN or you can process one by yourself. To activate UAN, members should go to the EPFO portal at “https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/” and then select the option which displays “Activate UAN”.
After entering UAN name, birth date, and mobile number, an authorization PIN is processed. The UAN is active once the PIN is entered and verified.
Common Services Found In The EPFO Portal:
PF Account’s KYC Updating
After logging in, a person can update their KYC documents. They can get them verified by their employer. They need to integrate their PAN and Aadhaar numbers, and even bank account details. Even passport, driving license and voter id can be entered.
When verified, the claim process becomes easier. To avail services of the portal, KYC needs to be verified.
Linking UAN To Aadhaar
Even though it is not necessary for linking UAN to Aadhaar, but it makes everything easier, and claim settlements can settle easily. There are ways to do this method, which can be found on the portal website.
To withdraw and transfer claim settlement, the process through Aadhaar is better. An employee needs to have UAN. Also, the KYC with their UAN should be inputted, and the current employer should verify the e-KYC.
Passbook can’t be accessed through the EPFO portal. One needs to go to “www.epfindia.gov.in” for viewing passbook. Moreover, then he or she needs to select the ‘For Employees’ option. After then you need to click on ‘Member Passbook’.
Profile Details Viewing
To view profile details, member needs to find out if the name, date of birth, and other information is right. Errors can be corrected.
A member doesn’t need to be physically present for registering. Moreover, it can be done online through e-verification online. A person just needs Aadhaar-linked UAN and can use the service.
