PAN number is a key number for all the financial transaction related to income tax in India. The issuing authority i.e income tax department maintains a database to keep the personal details of every tax payer which are required to transact like name, address, phone number, email id etc. It is important for every tax payer to keep a check that all your data registered at PAN database is correct. As the information at PAN database can impact you directly or indirectly, so to avoid any problem in future it is better you should verify all your PAN related data in advance. Like to make income tax department send your tax refund at your present address it is important for you to know is your present address updated at PAN database or not if not how you can update the same to avoid any delay in receiving refund amount.
PAN Address – How To Your Check PAN Address Using PAN Card Number?
It is a simple 7 step process.
STEP I – Visit at https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/ ( Browser : other than Google chrome).
STEP II – Click on Register link in the Login Box.
STEP III – Enter your 10 digit alphanumeric PAN number for example ‘BPXXXX0101’ and click ’click me’ button.
STEP IV – Enter all your personal details to register yourself with the income tax department e-filing website like your name, date of birth, password etc. and click on ‘Register’ button.
STEP V – An email confirmation message will be displayed on your computer screen and you can then check your email id, click on the link to activate your account.
STEP VI – Now login using your PAN number and password (created while registration).
STEP VII – Go to ‘My Account’ –> Update Phone/ Email
And you are done. Here you can check you address details as per PAN database.
PAN Address – How To Update PAN Address In PAN Database?
If you want to update your PAN address in case of change in your residence address or job location then all you have to do is follow the steps given below to get your data corrected in the PAN database.
STEP I – Click Change/Correction in PAN data to apply online for the rectification of PAN data.
STEP II – At the bottom of the instruction page – Select “Individual” (in case of individual) from the drop down list and click “Select” button.
STEP III – Fill the form carefully and mention your full ‘Address for communication’ to update for PAN address.
- Select the radio button Residential or Office, to indicate the address you are proving is your residential address or official address.
- It is compulsory for applicants other than individuals or HUF to provide their official address for “address for communication”.
STEP IV – Applicant have to submit ‘Address proof’ to update the communication address details in the PAN database.
- MODE OF SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS :- The acknowledgement duly signed, affixed with photograph (in case of ‘Individuals’) alongwith demand draft/cheque, if any, proof of existing PAN, proof of identity & address as specified in the application along with any other relevant proof as specified (in Item No.IV – Documents to be submitted along with the application ) is to be sent to NSDL at ‘National Securities Depository Limited, 3rd floor, Sapphire Chambers, Near Baner Telephone Exchange, Baner, Pune – 411045′.
STEP V – Applicant have to pay Rs 96 (including service tax) if new communication address is within India or Rs 962 (including service tax) if new communication address is outside India, as processing fee to get this updation done at PAN database.
