Aadhaar is a name given to the project initiated by the Government of India to deliver unique identification numbers to every resident across the country. It is been popularize as ‘Aam Aadmi Ka Adhikaar’, as it is one of its kind of initiative which has been designed to give unique identity to every individual including homeless and transgender. This 12 digit unique ID number will work as an universally accepted identity proof for the life time of an individual.
Features Of Aadhaar Card
Identity Proof :- It is a unique identification number which is being issued to every individual and will work as an identity proof for services like bank account, phone connections etc.
Free Enrollment :- Enrollment for aadhaar card is free, Government of India is bearing the cost of the entire project.
For Every Indian Resident :- It is not restricted to Indian citizens only and is meant for residents of India, irrespective of their citizenship.
Not Mandatory :- It is a voluntary scheme, which means any resident Indian can enroll for the UID. There is no compulsion to get yourself registered for the same.
Not A Proof Of Citizenship :- Every individual Indian resident can get himself registered for UID, it is a proof of identity not a proof of Indian citizenship for an individual.
Universally Accepted :- This is a national identity card which will be accepted at all the public and private sectors as a valid identity proof – like the social security number in the USA and the welfare number in the Europe.
Access To Services & Benefits :- It will help Government authorities to provide services and benefits of the Government schemes to every deserving individual by their unique identity. The funds and services was not getting delivered to the intended beneficiaries instead was diverted to the fake people due to duplicate & bogus identity proofs.
Unique Number : – Aadhaar is a 12 digits unique number issued by the Government of India to every Indian national including infants.
Required Documents Not Available :- Even if people do not have required documents i.e address proof and ID proof can apply for Aadhaar. Authorized individuals, who already have an Aadhaar, can introduce residents who don’t possess any documents to establish their identity to enable them to receive their Aadhaar.
No Duplicacy : It is linked to demographics and biometric information — photo, 10 fingerprints and iris — of each individual.

The Aadhaar Number/ UID would be issued to every individual resident in India that satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI, including NRIs, and foreigners residing in India. The physical presence in India for providing fingerprints and other bio-metrics etc. is necessary. Aadhaar UID doesn’t establish citizenship and is not only for Indians.

Aadhaar Enrollment Camps Timing, Working Days & Last Date Of Enrollment
TIMING :- The timing of most of the camps for the enrollment of UID is from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
WORKING DAYS: Most of the camps for UID registration are open from Monday to Friday.
LAST DATE OF ENROLLMENT :- There is last date for enrollment for the UID.
ONLINE REGISTRATION :- There are no online registrations of now.
Eligibility Criteria For The Enrollment Of Aadhaar/ UID
Any resident Indian who satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI can get an Aadhaar.
Age Criteria: Although there is no age criteria for the enrollment of UID. Even an infant is eligible to enroll for the aadhaar but the children below 3 years of age do not have to provide biometric details, their aadhaar will be linked to their parents or guardians data.
For children below the age of 3 years at the time of enrollment have to provide biometric details after attaining the age of 5 years.
For children between the age of 5 to 15 have to provide the biometric details again after attaining the age of 15 years as biometric changes with age.
Check Your Aadhaar Enrollment Status :-
After the enrollment, your aadhaar card will reach to the address provided by you at the time of registration within 90 days. You can also check your enrollment status online on the official website of UIDAI by entering the 14 digit Enrollment number and 14 digit date and time on the acknowledgement slip.
